Laser Oxide Removal

The laser oxide layer left on the component is loosely adhered to the surface, if this layer is not removed prior to painting, the layer will come away from the component very quickly, taking the paint with it and leaving a bare metal strip open to the environment that will quickly rust.

There are several ways of removing this layer, manually or automatically by abrading, chemically and shotblasting, the latter being the preferred option in many cases.
